The day will start with an introduction to photography. In the afternoon we will photograph the dramatic Cheddar Gorge where there are views across the Somerset Levels to Glastonbury, the Quantock Hills, Exmoor, the Bristol Channel and Wales all as backdrops in the distance. Stunning limestone rock formations can be photographed nearby including wildlife on top of the gorge. There is some walking involved and a moderate to steep climb for a short distance (approx 1/3 mile).

The day will start with an introduction to photographing wildlife including observational skills and then we will visit Banwell Castle where you will photograph a selection of Kestrels, Buzzards, Eagles and Owls including an Eagle Owl. You will be able to capture them in their natural settings as well as catch them in flight and feeding. (An excellent learning platform for wildlife image taking)

In the afternoon we will spend some time out in the Mendip Hills photographing beautiful autumn scenes.

This will include a whole day at Longleat where the morning will include tuition on photographing wild animals and we will follow the normal route through the safari park.

Then in the afternoon, we will be given a VIP tour (*) where we are driven by one of their wardens and are able to go "off-road" and behind the scenes where some exciting image opportunities await and you will be able to get closer to the animals than the general public.

The wardens will use their expertise of the animals to ensure we get optimum photography opportunities and each warden is in constant radio contact with each other so we can be informed of any opportunities in other areas of the park.

Animals include Lions, Tigers, Hippos, Rhinos, Buffalos, Giraffes, Zebras, Antelopes, Deer, Tapirs, Warthog, Wolves, Monkeys, Meerkats, Flamingos, Pelicans, Ostriches, Vultures and many more.

There will be some pointers on setting up some simple photographic opportunities of your own once the course is over, along with the chance for one-to-one critiquing of your work.

For the 3 day course arrival is the evening of Tuesday 12th and Departure is Friday 15th.
